Today is the 12th January. I was following the Piers Morgan Show with Dr Oz at 10 am just now. The show discussed the health issues in the world generally and America especially. What was amazing was the attendance of one lady who is 101 years old and she revealed that the secrets of her longevity have been her diet which was consistently non fat, lots of milk and no alcohol. She avoided exposure to the sun and mostly lead a very actively life. She exercised even in bed and while sitting down on a chair. She said that thought that the main reason was lots of sex!!! Dr Oz concluded that Americans are generally on very poor diet of french fries which are loaded with bad fats. Sleep deprivation could also be a cause. Another interesting issue being discussed was how a highly dangerous life we are leading when we compound stress leading to sleep deprivation+ eating fat loaded foods + life style of inactivity and stress + daily personal traumas + little or no sex +side effects of strong medical drugs. When we think through all those its really frightening! We are no longer enjoying life because when we live in such a state even spiritually we could just be simply lazy and lousy. Oh God what have we allowed ourselves into? We think and spend too much time on the IQ and EQ but we should spend more time on SQ.
When I listened in and see what my grandchildren like eating, I feel worried. They enjoy the what you call the junks. Its always an uphill battle for their moms to make them love eating good home cooked foods. They find so much joy in watching and playing violent games with the television, no exercise except what they do in school. Everything is being done for them by the maids. My 9 going to be grandson told me recently that he does not enjoy swimming anymore because it makes him dark. He is beginning to feel vain. Swimming used to be his joyous form of exercise.
I am not being negative here but I just wonder when are we really going to face these issues squarely in the face. Unless and until we tackle these issues, they will remain something that we just talk or discuss about.
